Sculpture, art object, and serving dish in one — an organic form that changes a room.
On the outside the piece recalls a forest mushroom: dense hand-carved relief follows the gill-like pattern of the cap.
This „Chanterelle” has a flat cap, designed for serving fruit, berries, and sweets. The cap surface is wide and the edges are curved — beautiful and practical, keeping everything in place.
Inside, four glazes have blended and flowed over each other — white, beige, brown, and pink — creating a pattern the glaze has made on its own, one that can be studied endlessly. Heavy and remarkably stable, raised on a foot. Hand-formed, one of a kind.
Maker’s note
The mushroom form seems to me the most fitting to show what clay is capable of plastically — and at the same time it is the ideal shape for holding small things. The glaze pattern on the inside is my attempt to show what a glaze can do when given room.
