A large open bowl that is a serving plate today and a room focal point tomorrow — red, gold, dominant on the table.
Richly ruffled edges recall the petals of a flower in full bloom — the rim moves, flows, and plays with the light, glaze pooling in the depths of every fold. The interior is decorated with genuine gold that forms a soft diffused pattern and concentrates at the centre like warm light. The combination of red and gold is bold and alive — presence rather than decoration. Hand-shaped in small batches — no two exactly alike.
Maker’s note
I love flowers with ruffled petals — they make every bloom lighter, fuller, and more alive. Nothing delights my eye more than a poppy or peony in full bloom. This series is dedicated to my favourite flowers — pieces whose edges recall ruffled petals just opening.
