A bowl that stands on its own glaze — drops that froze mid-air and became feet.
The entire outer surface is 100% hand-carved — a deep, feather-like relief running from rim to base. Multiple glaze layers flow down over the relief, exposing and emphasising every single line. Inside, the bowl is covered in deep tones — between violet and dark blue — creating a striking contrast with the light, textured exterior. Hand-formed, one of a kind.
Maker’s note
This bowl is my best work in drippy glaze. I knew the glaze would run down the form, so before firing I placed an extra elevation under the base. In the kiln the drips froze mid-air and formed tiny feet. Now the bowl stands on its own glaze. I’ll try to repeat the effect on another bowl — but for now it is one of a kind.
