Black clay and flame orange — dominant, vivid, the focal point of any room.
The entire surface is hand-carved from base to rim — like petals just beginning to open, or flames rising upward. The grooves of the relief are filled with bright orange glaze, creating a sharp contrast against the exposed black clay. The alternation of glaze and bare clay creates both colour and texture contrast — glossy and matte, fire and night. Small but extraordinarily heavy and stable. Hand-formed, one of a kind.
Maker’s note
Black clay is a material with its own character — dense, heavy, with a dark depth. I chose to leave part of it unglazed: not to cover it, but to reveal it. The orange glaze in the carved grooves appears like flame breaking through a dark surface. This vase is a meeting of opposites — restrained and intense, a dialogue between dark and light.
