A vase with no best angle — it’s beautiful from every side, and that’s not an accident.
This is a multi-breast sculpture — a functional art object for the home. The upper section is covered in a glossy bronze tone that came from a mistake: I was once experimenting with layering glazes and forgot what order I’d used and which ones. So I just started applying everything again, layer by layer. The result is a bright copper surface that draws the eye from any point in the room. Heavy and remarkably stable. Hand-formed, one of a kind.
Maker’s note
As an artist I wanted to say one simple thing: the body is beautiful from every angle. We are so used to presenting ourselves from the approved side — turn the camera slightly and your shoulders are narrower, legs longer, face younger. We edit ourselves constantly. We are always looking for our best angle. This vase says: I have no best angle. I am beautiful as I am — from every side.
