Sculpture, vase, and bowl in one — an organic form that changes every room.
On the outside the piece recalls a chanterelle mushroom: dense hand-carved gill-like relief follows the form, while the ruffled edges rise and fall like a cap just opening. Inside, four glazes have been layered, blended, and allowed to flow over each other — white, beige, brown, grey-green — creating a pattern the glaze has made on its own, one that can be studied for a very long time. Heavy and remarkably stable, raised on a foot. Hand-formed, one of a kind.
Maker’s note
The mushroom form seems to me the most fitting to show what clay is capable of plastically — and at the same time it is the ideal shape for holding small things. The glaze pattern on the inside is my attempt to show what a glaze can do when given room.
